SESSIONS

VACCINATION RESEARCH

The first technical session was chaired by y Dr Prof. Emeritus Dr. Surasak Taneepanichskuli (College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand) and five interesting presentations were given during this session. The session discussed applying COVID-19 vaccination experiences to enhance routine immunization, combat vaccine hesitancy, improve uptake in remote areas, address conspiracy beliefs among students, and engage communities for increased vaccination rates.

CLINICAL RESEARCH & GENERAL PUBLIC HEALTH (I)

The second technical session was chaired by Dr Eiman Alawadhi from the Kuwait University, Kuwait, which was presented by five researchers. The session discussed digitization’s role in clinical auditing, modern living conditions’ impact on the human microbiome, COVID-19’s effects on colorectal cancer, adolescent field hockey player injuries, and the economic crisis’s implications for kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis in Sri Lanka.

CLINICAL RESEARCH & GENERAL PUBLIC HEALTH (II)

The third technical session was chaired by Dr. Daya Krishan Mangal from the Indian Institute of Health Management Research, India, which was presented by five researchers. The session covered hospital compliance investigations on antibiotic prophylaxis, qualitative studies on physical activity among Teesside-based BAME individuals during COVID-19, oral health-related quality of life in post-COVID-19 patients, AI-based diabetes diagnostics, and self-care practices for arteriovenous fistula care among hemodialysis patients at Teaching Hospital Karapitiya.

MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH CARE

The forth technical session was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Piyush Kumar from Institute of Health Management Research, Bangalore, India, which was presented by four researchers. The session included discussions on mothers’ knowledge of early motor development milestones for 2-5-year-old children, the association between antenatal care and low birth weight babies, exclusive breastfeeding influences and barriers in Lesotho, and factors related to late antenatal visits among women in Malawi.

SMOKING AND VAPING

The fifth technical session was chaired by Dr. Nur Indrawaty Lipoeto from Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, Indonesia, which was presented by four researchers. The session covered the effects of coffee consumption on hemoglobin levels in Tengger women, associative patterns of electronic cigarette use among adolescents during COVID-19 in the United States, prescribing practices of nicotine-replacement therapy in acute medical settings and related barriers, and current health implications of e-cigarette and vaping use.

MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICITIONS

The sixth technical session was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nutta Taneepanichskul from College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, which was presented by four researchers. The session included discussions on the development and validation of a mobile application for mental health screening in Pakistan, a large-scale study on smart device addiction and adolescent mental health in Hanoi, Vietnam during the COVID era, adolescent satisfaction with health services at adolescent-friendly health corners, and the role of pharmacists in developing and validating a mood disorder screening app for the population of Pakistan.

HEALTH WORKERS

The seventh technical session was chaired by Dr. Maznieda Mahjom (Head of Centre for Occupational Health Research & Public Health Specialist), from Centre for Occupational Health Research, Public Health Institute, Ministry of Health Malaysia, Malaysia, which was presented by four researchers. The session covered cognitive, affective, and psychosocial burnout among small hospital healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, perspectives on choice and decision-making in residential aged care from residents and personal care attendants, and strategies for safeguarding health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CLINICAL RESEARCH & GENERAL PUBLIC HEALTH (III)

The eighth technical session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Nur Indrawaty Lipoeto from Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, Indonesia, which was presented by five researchers. The session discussed preferences and utilization of indoor spaces for COVID-19 quarantine among remote communities in Borneo, Malaysia, oral hygiene practices and periodontitis among elderly patients in dental outpatient departments, teratogenic effects of ethylene glycol on fetal mice morphology and skeletal development, the RAPEREFED model which views health education as a therapeutic tool, and quality of life and associated factors among leprosy patients attending clinics at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.

MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICITIONS II

The final technical session was chaired by Dr. Rima Semiarty from Lecturer of Public Health Department, Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, Indonesia, which was presented by five researchers. The session explored the application of the Socio-Ecological Model to assess suicide risk among youth and develop preventive strategies, the potential impact of the Great Lockdown on students’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, the crafting of an internet addiction awareness training module for school counselors to unleash empowerment, and the development of a theory-based hepatitis C health education intervention module for opioid replacement therapy clients in Malacca.

HEALTH CHARACTERISTICS

The first poster session was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sahipudin Saupin (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Malaysia), this session was presented by five presenters. The poster session covered risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases among tea garden workers, and the effect of coffee drinking habits on blood pressure and hemoglobin levels among women of childbearing age in the Ngadipuro Hamlet, with preliminary findings.

CHILD AND ADOLESCENT HEALTH

The second poster session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Hafiza Sultana (Head, Department of Health Education, National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine, Bangladesh), this session was presented by four presenters. The session included a child-friendly space quality improvement pilot project, an exploration of adolescent happiness during an economic crisis in Sri Lanka, a study on fruit and sugar-sweetened beverages consumption and its relation to adolescent anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, and an investigation into the effect of fear on anxiety symptoms among hospital employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, with interpersonal sensitivity as a moderator.

MEDICATION AND VACCINATION

The third poster session was chaired Dr. Fatimah Ahmad Fauzi (Medical Lecturer, Community Health Department, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia), this session was presented by four presenters. The session included a survey of medical student attitudes on COVID-19 vaccine and vaccine education, advancements towards over-the-counter oral contraceptive pills in the US, a cross-sectional study estimating potentially inappropriate medications among elderly patients at King Abdul-Aziz Medical City Emergency Care Center, a study protocol assessing the effectiveness of a parent’s health education intervention to enhance MMR vaccination confidence among Malaysian parents, and an examination of demographic influences on medical student attitudes toward the COVID-19 vaccine.
